Hatters Boss Won’t Look Down On Brighton

Former Brighton man and current Luton boss Nathan Jones says he will not underestimate the challenge of facing the Under 23s. Jones’ Luton side are preparing to face Brighton Under 23s in the first match of the Checkatrade Trophy in the group stages of the tournament.

The Seagulls youngsters have had a very positive start to their Premier League 2 campaign after gaining promotion last term, and drew games against Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham before thrashing Manchester City’s youngsters 5-0.

Jones, who spent five years as a player at Brighton before becoming part of the coaching staff under Chris Hughton nine years later, says he is looking forward to the game and won’t be taking Brighton lightly, despite the fact their team will be made up of largely untested youngsters.

Speaking about the clash, Jones said: “It’s a wonderful occasion, we like playing these different games, different teams, and it will be a real good test, because they’ve started superbly well in the league having played Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham.

“It’s been a tough start for them but they’re unbeaten, so they’ll be a very well organised, very talented young side and we’ve got to be at our best.”
