Hogg Back In Scotland Squad

Hogg Back In Scotland Squad

Stuart Hogg has made a rapid recovery from ankle surgery and been included in the Scotland squad to face Fiji on Saturday. The 26-year-old was forced to go under the surgeon’s knife back in September and it seemed likely that he would play no part in the Scots’ autumn campaign.

However, with the problem seemingly improving much quicker than first thought, the talented full-back has been recalled to face the southern hemisphere side.

There are other changes following the weekend’s loss to Wales in Cardiff, with Hogg’s Glasgow Warriors team-mates Adam Ashe, Scott Cummings and Nick Grigg also getting the call.

Josh Strauss and Duncan Weir also return to the fold after being in the international wilderness for some time.
Sale Sharks back-row Strauss has not played under head coach Gregor Townsend since defeat to Fiji on the summer tour of 2017, while Worcester Warriors fly-half Weir last featured for his national side against Italy in last year’s Six Nations.

Edinburgh trio Ross Ford, Henry Pyrgos and Dougie Fife have been released from the squad.
