Holmes Nets Wales Call

Uncapped Leicester winger Jonah Holmes has been included in the Wales squad for the November Tests. The 25-year-old, who qualifies for the Dragons via a grandparent, has scored 10 tries in 11 Leicester appearances since joining from Leeds in 2017 and has been selected by coach Warren Gatland for games against Scotland, Australia, South Africa and Tonga.

There was also a call-up for uncapped Ospreys winger Luke Morgan, who has previously been part of his nation’s sevens side.

Centres Jonathan Davies and Tyler Morgan plus prop Leon Brown are back from injury while lock Alun Wyn Jones returns as captain, with fellow Osprey Justin Tipuric, George North and Liam Williams also back in the frame.

Gatland is keen to spread his net as wide as possible as he looks at options for the Six Nations and beyond.
“This autumn is the start of a 12-month countdown to the Rugby World Cup and it is a huge opportunity for the players,” he said.

“The players who performed and represented Wales so well in the summer deserve the opportunity again and we are really pleased with the depth we have built across the squad.

“We have added in a lot of experience with eight British and Irish Lions coming into the squad so there is a lot of competition for places.”
