Watford will have to launch a substantial bid if they want to sign Benfica outcast Chris Willock during the January transfer window. The Hornets were heavily linked with a move for the 20-year-old former Arsenal youngster during the summer but were not the only club interested, with Premier League rivals Huddersfield and Bournemouth also linked with bids.
Willock is yet to make a senior appearance for Benfica since joining the club during the summer of 2017 and is currently with their B squad, where he has scored twice in four appearances to date this term.
Benfica were reluctant to offload the England youth international during the summer, while Willock himself has been keen to make the move work, particularly as he is believed to have rejected both Manchester City and Tottenham in favour of a switch to Portugal.
However, if first-team opportunities remain hard to come by over the next few months, he could well be open to a move back to England although reports in Portugal say it will take a substantial offer to convince Benfica to part ways.
