Howe – Cherries Need Clean-Sheet Mindset

Eddie Howe felt Bournemouth need to improve their use of the ball when leading and urged his side to develop a clean-sheet mindset. A late Foxes flurry threatened to put a dampener on a convincing Cherries victory on Saturday as goals from James Maddison and Marc Albrighton set up a nervy end to proceedings.

“When they scored their first, we needed a better reaction.” admitted Howe, after seeing his side miss out on their second Premier League clean sheet of the campaign.

“The mindset should be to keep clean sheets and I don’t think we used the ball enough when we had the advantage in the final part of the game.”

But the Cherries manager also had words of praise for his squad after the 4-2 victory at the Vitality Stadium lifted Bournemouth to fifth place in the early-season standings.

“The players here all look fit and that’s shown in the work they’ve put in during the international break,” said Howe, who took his players to train with the SAS last week.
“They’ve shown a really good attitude and that showed today.”
