Howe Plays Down Cherries Start

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is playing down the Cherries’ start to the season, saying “nothing has been achieved yet”.

The drubbing of Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday takes the Cherries’ points tally to 16 from just eight games, with Bournemouth up into the European places in the Premier League.

That is a massive improvement on recent seasons as Bournemouth regularly struggle at the start of campaigns, but Howe is not getting carried away and they are focusing on what they are doing.

Asked by the Daily Echo how his mid-term report would read, Howe said: “If I did them, it would be positive, not just on the results but on the mentality of the players and how they are conducting themselves every day.

“For me, that is the most important thing. If you have that, with the ability to go hand in hand, you have a great chance.

“Nothing has been achieved yet, we just have more points than we did at this time last year but no more than that.
“That’s very much my method and now it’s all about the next training session.”
