Brighton coach Chris Hughton insists striker Jurgen Locadia just needs a break as he continues to struggle for form since his move. The former PSV Eindhoven forward has yet to find his rhythm since his January move for £14million.
He started Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat to Southampton in the Carabao Cup but he has more work to do if he is to dislodge Glenn Murray from the starting XI.
Locadia is now set to be back on the bench for Fulham’s Premier League visit to the Amex on Saturday but Hughton is expecting him to come good in the coming weeks.
He told The Argus: “There are players that haven’t played as regularly as others. Sometimes it takes a little bit longer to get into a real rhythmn, to get to the real levels you need in each game.
“I thought Jurgen worked hard enough. When you are a striker, when you have been playing regularly, things fall for you and it just gives you that little bit of an edge.
“Probably with Jurgen he is certainly working hard enough, he just needs a bit of a break.”
