Brighton boss Chris Hughton has welcomed the timing of the international break as he looks to get his squad back to full strength. The south-coast club have struggled to find a level of consistency so far in 2018-19, having won just one of their four outings, and they sit 14th with just four points to their name.
Hughton hasn’t been able to call on a fully-fit squad so far this term and he feels that Brighton have more to offer when everyone is available.
Summer signing Florin Andone and winger Jose Izquierdo, who featured at the World Cup for Colombia, are yet to feature, although Hughton is hopeful of having them back after the international break.
Hughton told reporters: “The international breaks give us a really good opportunity in a less pressurised situation to work, look at the four games, where can we improve, get Andone and Izquierdo fit, get the levels up of the ones that haven’t been playing.
“We, of course, have longer than the others because we don’t play until the Monday. We’ll try to work it the best way we can.
“The difficulty also after the international break is to try to hit the ground running.”
