Injured Janmaat Set For Six-Week Absence

Watford defender Daryl Janmaat will be out for up to six weeks with a knee injury after undergoing a minor operation. The right-back, who has started all six of the Hornets’ Premier League games so far this season, has undergone what has been described by the agency group that look after him as a “minor intervention on his meniscus”, ruling him out for “five to six weeks”.

The 29-year-old is managed by Wasserman Netherlands Management and they have released a statement on his injury, in what is a blow to Watford boss Javi Gracia, who looks set to be without the player until November.

The full statement read: “Daryl Janmaat will not take action in the coming weeks. The 29-year-old player of Watford FC and international of the Dutch national team has undergone a minor intervention on his meniscus and is expected to be out for five to six weeks.”

Janmaat is expected to sit out the upcoming game against Arsenal on Saturday and the matches that follow against Bournemouth (October 6), Wolves (October 20), Huddersfield (October 27) and Newcastle (November 3), with the trip to Southampton on November 10 a possible early return date.
