Lorenzo Insigne admits he didn’t play well against Juventus on Saturday but has worked hard to be ready to face Liverpool. The Italy international was one of many players to under-perform against the reigning champions as Juventus overturned a 1-0 deficit to run out 3-1 winners in Turin, extending their Serie A advantage over Napoli to six points.
“The criticisms are part of our job and I accept them,” said the 27-year-old.
“I am aware that I have not provided one of my best performances on Saturday. A game can go wrong but I’m calm – in these last few days I have worked hard to be ready for Liverpool.”
The Azzurri will be looking for three points against Jurgen Klopp’s men in the Champions League Group C clash after a 0-0 draw in Belgrade last month left them with some work to do in a group which also contains Paris Saint-Germain.
“I’m calm, like my team-mates,” added Insigne. “It will be a difficult but fascinating game. We like these games, especially in the Champions League where there is a big push from the fans to try and achieve a result.”
