Huddersfield commercial director Sean Jarvis has underlined the importance of the club surviving in the Premier League this season. After narrowly avoiding relegation from the top flight last term, the Terriers have failed to win any of their league games to date this season, picking up just two points from five matches.
Jarvis, who joined the board of the directors in 2009, is desperate to see the West Yorkshire club preserve their top-flight stay as he feels it will not only benefit the club, but the entire local area as well.
“I think the importance of having Huddersfield Town in the Premier League cannot be underestimated,” Jarvis was quoted as saying by the Huddersfield Examiner.
“The sense of civic pride that it brings locally and the profile that it generates both nationally and internationally is phenomenal. Being Yorkshire’s only Premier League team puts us on the map.”
Huddersfield also recently announced plans to redevelop their Canalside training ground and Jarvis admits it was only made possible because of their promotion to the Premier League.
He added: “The Premier League has allowed us as a football club to look at how we can develop the big projects that we talk about – such as the £20million training ground.”
