Kongolo Still To Reach ‘Best Level’

Terence Kongolo feels he is still working his way back to peak fitness and there is plenty of scope for further improvement. The 24-year-old has made nine Premier League starts for the Terriers this season but a hamstring injury left the Netherlands international on the sidelines for October.

He returned for the 1-0 win over Fulham and also featured as David Wagner’s side drew 1-1 at home to West Ham last time out.

The former Feyenoord ace – a record £17.5m signing from Monaco – has taken advantage of the international break to undertake some warm-weather training in Marbella ahead of the Yorkshire club’s return to action against Wolves at Molineux on Sunday.

Kongolo has played his part in Town’s mini-revival but made it clear he will be even more influential once operating at full capacity. “I feel I’m not yet at my best level because I want to play games every week and this injury has stopped me being at the level where I want to be,” he said. “I am not at my best level and this is most important. I try to be fit and make big steps, but I’m not at my best level yet. “There is more to come and I have to show every week that I can improve.”
