Lanzini Fitness Update

Manuel Lanzini is making good progress and showing an ‘outstanding attitude’ as he bids to make a much-needed return for West Ham. The midfielder is three months into a six-month rehabilitation programme, before he is expected to start some light jogging and running soon after Christmas.

The 25-year-old suffered a devastating cruciate ligament injury during an Argentinian training ground session, as he prepared for the World Cup in Russia. His absence was a big blow for his country and now the Hammers are having to cope without his presence.

ClaretandHugh reported this morning that given the terrible injury there were even ‘doubts as to whether he would play again’ but that the Hammers medical team are now we are discussing whether he will be back ‘before the end of the season’.

The optimistic view is that Lanzini might be back in action – firstly for the under 23’s – in the early stages of 2019, with the former River Plate man currently working hard in the gym.

The medical staff have been full of praise for the forward’s great attitude and reports suggest there is ‘no reason’ at this point why he shouldn’t target a return to action before the end of this season.
