Jesse Lingard is set to be rewarded with another pay rise – just 16 months since his last one at Manchester United. Old Trafford chiefs promised the England midfielder his financial situation would remain under constant review when he signed an improved four-year agreement last year.
Lingard was a stand-out performer for the Three Lions at the World Cup and has also established himself as a key performer for United boss Jose Mourinho, who feels the player is now coming into his peak years.
The Warrington-born academy graduate saw his pay increased to £100,000 per week when he last renewed, but the 25-year-old is still way down the financial money tree in comparison to many of his team-mates at the Theatre of Dreams.
United’s top brass have a number of players out of contract next summer and those talks are seen as the main priority.
Lingard, however, who initially joined United at the age of seven, is on the Red Devils’ to-do list, providing further evidence of his increased standing at the club.
