Everton have confirmed Ademola Lookman sustained a “minor injury” on international duty and has returned to the club. Lookman has struggled to force his way into Everton’s first team on a regular basis this season following the arrival of Marco Silva.
He has been linked with a January move after making just six appearances from the bench in the Premier League.
Despite a lack of domestic football he is still regarded as one of England’s brightest young talents and was named in Aidy Bothroyd’s Young Lions squad.
The player was not involved in the victory over Italy on Thursday and Everton have confirmed he is back at Finch Farm receiving treatment following a “minor knock”.
Everton said in a statement: “Ademola Lookman has returned to Everton to undergo treatment on a minor injury picked up on international duty with England Under-21s.”
The 21-year-old was hoping to play some part in England’s friendly clash with Denmark on Tuesday.
