Valencia boss Marcelino admits his side need to tighten up at the back after a poor start to the season. Los Che are yet to pick up a victory after the first three games of 2018-19 and they head into the international break sitting in a disappointing 17th.
Sunday’s 2-2 draw at Levante means Valencia have now shipped five goals in the league already and Marcelino has demanded an improvement.
The former Villarreal boss admits that they will struggle to pick up victories if they continue to concede on such a regular basis.
Marcelino said: “To concede five goals in our first three games is not good enough, it does not match our standards.
“If we carry on in this fashion, we will need to score a minimum of three goals in a game to win the match so it is obvious this is a massive task.
“We have not been good enough when we do not have the ball, we are too vulnerable to the opposition so we must work hard on this.
“We must make our team solid, hard to beat and not concede as many chances.”
