Wolves’ star Matt Doherty believes he and his side are heading in the right direction after a strong start in the Premier League. The 26-year-old played for the club during their last stint in the top flight and stuck by them as they fell down to League One.
Doherty has subsequently played a leading role in Wolves’ rise back to the top and provided the key assist on Sunday as Raul Jimenez scored the only goal in the 1-0 win over Burnley.
The victory made it eight points from a possible 15 for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men and sees them sit handily placed in ninth.
Nuno’s side have impressed with their stylish football this season and the Irish international admits he and everyone else at the club are enjoying the challenge of testing themselves in the Premier League.
He told the club’s website: “I can’t tell you how much fun it is to play in this team – just the way we play, the movement we have and the fact that we all know exactly what we’re doing. It’s perfect for us and it’s producing some good performances and, more importantly, good results.
“I’m very happy with my form at the moment. I had a sticky game against Leicester a few weeks ago but I’ve managed to bounce back from that and then come back after the international break and keep it going, which you can never take for granted.”
