Mbenza Out To Make Belgium Proud

Huddersfield forward Isaac Mbenza is hoping to prove his worth on the international stage with Belgium’s Under-21s. The 22-year-old joined Huddersfield this summer on loan from Montpellier and his switch is set to become permanent at the end of the season.

He netted 11 times in 54 outings for the French club but is yet to get an opportunity to impress with Huddersfield.
However, despite a lack of domestic action he has still been called up to the Belgium Under-21 squad as they bid to qualify for the European Championship.

The young Red Devils will take on Malta on Friday before lining up against Hungary on Tuesday as they look to extend their unbeaten record.
The Under-21s have struggled to qualify for major tournaments over recent years and Mbenza has stressed the importance of putting that right.

Mbenza said: “It has been so long since the Under-21s have qualified for a tournament, we want to make our country proud again, it’s important for our development that we play tournaments, starting with the European Championship and who knows, if we perform well there, then the Games (Olympics), we all want to show ourselves to the world, a tournament lends itself best for that.”
