Middlesbrough have signed Southampton defender Sam McQueen on loan for the rest of the season. Former England Under-21 international McQueen has made 20 Premier League appearances for the Saints since making his senior debut in 2014 but he is yet to feature under manager Mark Hughes in the new campaign.
The 23-year-old was eager to get some regular playing time this term and he will now be plying his trade at the Riverside Stadium for the remainder of the season after his loan to Middlesbrough went through on Thursday.
McQueen will be hoping to help Tony Pulis’ side continue their blistering start to the Championship, having won four and drawn one of their five games, whilst also advancing into the third round of the Carabao Cup.
Next up for Boro is a clash against table-toppers Leeds United at Elland Road on Friday but the visitors’ new signing is unlikely to feature in the match, having only just made the temporary switch.
