The 26-year-old suffered an ankle injury in his home league debut and he went on to make just four Premier League appearances over the entire campaign.
After falling down the pecking order, he was loaned back to Nice in 2017-18, having only 14 outings, but he has forced his way back into contention at the King Power Stadium this term.
He has started eight of their league games and has struck up a strong relationship with Ndidi, who has started all nine games, and Mendy insists his team-mate makes life extremely “easy”.
Mendy said: “He is a good man. He makes it easy for me because he works a lot like me and when you play with men who work a lot it is easier because he works, he recovers and he passes the ball like me. We are similar.”
