Millman Aiming For Grand Slam Seeding

John Millman says he is hoping to keep rising up the world rankings and get a seeding for the Grand Slams. Australian Millman has enjoyed a positive year and he added two more ATP Challenger titles to his collection, either side of a final loss at the Hungarian Open on the ATP Tour.

The 29-year-old also recorded his best finish at a Grand Slam when reaching the quarter-finals of the US Open at Flushing Meadows, where he was eventually knocked out by champion Novak Djokovic.

Millman, who is facing a couple weeks out of action after picking up a hip injury, has been happy with his development this season and he is already setting the bar high for 2019.

“I’ve given myself an opportunity to play in some of these big tournaments like the Masters, although I will probably have to play qualifying for Shanghai,” he was quoted as saying by Fox Sports.

“The next step for me is to make the most of it and win matches and go on another big run after the US Open. I have some ranking points to defend toward the end of the year, but after I ticked off my goal for the year of making the top 50, the next step is getting a seed at a Grand Slam, which is top 32. I’m getting close now.”
