Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic has maintained his fine start to the season after netting a brace on international duty with Serbia. The 23-year-old forward has netted 16 league goals for the Cottagers since joining, initially on loan in January, with four of those strikes coming in the Premier League this season.
Indeed, the former Newcastle player is the joint leading scorer in the top flight this season and his form shows no signs of slowing down after he scored both of Serbia’s goals in their 2-2 draw with Romania in the UEFA Nations League on Monday.
Mitrovic’s second goal was particularly impressive as he shrugged off the attention of three defenders before firing the ball home.
It was a good day for another of Fulham’s internationals as Kevin McDonald played the first half of Scotland’s 2-0 victory over Albania
Both Mitrovic and McDonald appear to have emerged unscathed from their international exploits, which means they should be available for the Cottagers’ Premier League clash with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
