Antonio Candreva says he turned down the chance to join Monaco in the summer as he’s determined to prove himself at Inter Milan. The 31-year-old was heavily linked with a switch to the Stade Louis during the most recent transfer window and was expected to make the move as part of Inter’s purchase of Keita Balde.
The Italian was thought to have been offered to Leonardo Jardim’s men on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal but eventually turned down the Ligue 1 strugglers.

Candreva’s decision looks to have been the right one having featured regularly for Inter this season and he says he’s glad he stuck with the Italians.
“I was meant to leave, but then I decided to stay,” Candreva told Sport Mediaset.
“Monaco was an opportunity, but I didn’t take it into consideration because I had so much to prove at Inter. I want to prove myself here and indeed I have to.
“I am in a very strong team and there was simply nothing better than Inter.”
