Jose Mourinho reportedly described Paul Pogba as “a virus” in the wake of his careless display in United’s 2-2 draw at Southampton.
The Red Devils boss is understood to have accused the France international of showing a lack of respect for his team-mates and the club’s supporters with the nature of his performance in Saturday’s Premier League game at St Mary’s.
The Telegraph report that in a post-match dressing down delivered in front of the entire United team, Mourinho called Pogba “a virus”, suggesting that some of his play had rubbed off on his teammates.
Quoting a dressing-room source, the report claims Mourinho told Pogba: “You don’t play. You don’t respect players and supporters. And you kill the mentality of the good honest people around you.”
The Frenchman, who completed the full 90 minutes, was dispossessed eight times by opponents, lost 15 of 30 duels and completed less than 85 per cent of his passes against the relegation-threatened Saints.
