According to senior Old Trafford aides, Jose Mourinho will meet with Ed Woodward this week to discuss his January targets.
The Manchester United boss is reportedly ‘fuming’ after a scheduled meeting last Thursday was cancelled at short notice by the club’s executive vice-chairman.
It certainly did nothing to help a relationship believed to have been under strain since Mourinho missed out on his preferred summer transfer targets.
However, United insiders insist Woodward will sit down with his manager before this weekend’s trip to high-flying Bournemouth.
Mourinho has not allowed speculation over his Old Trafford future to divert his gaze from trying to bolster his present squad, with the Portuguese tactician wanting to bring in a central defender and a right-sided midfielder when the window reopens early in the new year.
Woodward and the United board refused to sanction a £75m move for Leicester City and England defender Harry Maguire in the summer, with Mourinho demanding new assurances he will now be backed in the market despite being allowed to spend £375m during his two years in charge at the Theatre of Dreams.
