Murray Relieved With Saints Draw

Brighton forward Glenn Murray has conceded his side “got away with one” during their 2-2 draw with Southampton on Monday night. The Seagulls went into the game without a win in three and that record looked like being extended when they fell 2-0 behind at St Mary’s.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s superb strike put Saints ahead in the 35th minute, before Danny Ings scored a penalty just after the hour mark.

Brighton had barely created a chance before Shane Duffy headed home a free-kick to give the travelling fans some hope.

After some late pressure, Chris Hughton’s men got their reward, with Murray netting a spot kick of his own after Duffy was fouled from a corner.

When asked about the result, he told Sky Sports: “After the way we performed in the first half we got away with one, we were very poor. Second half it was a different game, we put them under pressure and thankfully got our reward in the end.

“We were disappointed with the way we played in the first half and I think you saw a considerable difference in the second half.”
