Hoffenheim boss Julian Nagelsmann is targeting winning the Bundesliga title during his final season with the club. The 31-year-old has emerged as one of Germany’s most talented managers over recent times, as he has successfully guided Hoffenheim to third and fourth-place finishes in the Bundesliga during his two seasons in charge.
However, Nagelsmann confirmed earlier in the summer that this season will be his last at the Wirsol Rhein-Neckar-Arena as he will be heading to their Bundesliga rivals RB Leipzig for the 2019-20 campaign.
Nagelsmann insists the fact he is leaving will not affect the Hoffenheim’s performances on the pitch and he instead has lofty ambitions for his final season in charge, as he wants to challenge for and win the Bundesliga title.
“I want this last year to be even more successful than the others,” Nagelsmann was quoted as saying on the Bundesliga website.
“I always strive for maximum achievement, and maximum achievement would be winning the Bundesliga title. It will be tough, but I think all 18 teams would love to be champions if they had the chance.”
Arguably Hoffenheim’s toughest test of the season will come in their opening match when they take on defending champions Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Friday night.
