Alassane Plea has thrived since joining Borussia Monchengladbach and he has lofty ambitions for the side this season. The 25-year-old forward completed his move to Borussia-Park from Nice during the summer and has certainly hit the ground running since arriving in the Bundesliga, as his strike during Saturday’s shock 3-0 win over Bayern Munich was his fifth in just seven league appearances.
Plea feels he has not only settled into life at Gladbach quickly but has also improved his game during his short time under boss Dieter Hecking.
“I feel really confident, things are going my way,” he told L’Equipe. “I’m scoring, I’m improving, and it’s not a problem for me to track back. I like putting in an effort for the team and giving my all.”
Gladbach currently sit third in the Bundesliga standings and Plea sees no reason why they cannot secure European qualification for next season, particularly as they do not have such distractions this term.
“We have a good group with great potential,” the former Lyon player added. “The squad has strength in depth and we undoubtedly have the qualities to qualify for Europe next season.
“The battle for the European places will be tight, but we have a chance, especially as not playing in Europe this season could be favourable for us.”
