Claude Puel says there is a possibility Filip Benkovic will go out loan this week amid interest from Scottish champions Celtic. The Foxes landed the centre-back from Dinamo Zagreb for £13million during the summer but clearly view him as one for the future having used him sparingly since his arrival.
The 21-year-old made his debut for Leicester in the League Cup win over Fleetwood on Tuesday night but that could be his only appearance of the season as Celtic seek to take him on loan.
The Bhoys have concerns at centre-half and were linked with Benkovic several times previously before he wound up at the King Power Stadium.
Puel has now spoken on the possibility of letting the Croatian leave on loan and admits there is the potential for him to make a temporary switch north of the border before the Scottish transfer window closes at the end of the month.
When asked about Benkovic going to Celtic, Puel said: “We will see if there is a possibility. We want to continue to develop him. We have a lot of centre-backs.
“I want game-time for the young players also. He has to adapt to English football. Different clubs have an interest in him.”
When asked if there could be any loan departures from Leicester before the end of August, Puel added: “We will see for some players if we can find a solution, for themselves and with other clubs. Something could happen before the end of the transfer window. It’s close.”
