New Sevilla signing Quincy Promes says he will do all he can to achieve ‘great things’ for the club following his deadline day transfer. The Dutch international has joined Los Rojiblancos on a five-year deal from Spartak Moscow, a transfer that had looked like it would break down earlier in the week due to wage demands, but the Andalusians were able to get the move over the line before Friday’s deadline passed.
Promes showed the Sevilla fans what he was all about last season when he netted a brace in Spartak’s 5-1 victory over his new side in the Champions League and he admits he is hoping to bring those skills to the table during his time at the Ramon Sánchez Pizjuan.
“That’s why I’m here, to take this challenge and face up to it, I’ve confidence in myself and I like to face challenges,” Promes told the club website. “I’m going to do everything I can to achieve great things for this club.”
The 26-year-old could make his Sevilla debut in Sunday’s Andalusian derby against rivals Real Betis at the Benito Villamarin and he insists he is ready to feature in that contest.
“I’ve already played games like this in other clubs, and if they let me, I feel ready to play,” the winger added. “I’ve been following the game for the last few weeks, I’ve seen how they try to play and I’m going to fit in perfectly.”
