Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Naby Keita’s back injury will be assessed over the coming days.
The Guinea international went down off the ball during the first-half of Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat to Napoli in the Champions League and he was subsequently replaced by Jordan Henderson.
Keita, who only officially joined the Reds from RB Leipzig during the summer, appeared to be in some discomfort as he left the field and he was subsequently taken to a local hospital in Naples as a precaution.
Liverpool will play host to Manchester City in a top of the table clash in the Premier League on Sunday, but Klopp admitted after Wednesday’s match that he does not know if Keita will be fit enough to feature in that game, as he will have to wait for the midfielder to be assessed further.
“It is his back, that’s what I heard,” Klopp said. “I don’t know exactly. We have to wait.”
Keita has made nine appearances since joining Liverpool and he has featured in all seven of their Premier League games to date this term.
