Ricardo Returns To Bordeaux

Ricardo has been handed a second spell in charge of Bordeaux as the successor to the sacked Gus Poyet. The French Ligue 1 outfit have been looking for a new boss after Poyet was given his marching orders last month over a public outburst, in which he slammed the club’s officials over the decision to sell striker Gaetan Laborde without his consent.

Thierry Henry had looked set to take over the reins but he performed a U-turn and dropped out of the reckoning, which has paved the way for Ricardo to step in.

The 53-year-old, who had a previous spell in charge of Les Girondins between 2005 and 2007, when he won the Coupe de la Ligue, has been given the general manager title due to his lack of required coaching badges, with fitness coach Eric Bedouet continuing as head coach after he initially took interim charge on the back of Poyet’s departure.
