Rondon Keen To Keep Going

Newcastle’s Salomon Rondon has called for unity within the squad as they aim to kick on from a tough start to the season. The Venezuelan joined the Magpies on loan from West Brom over the summer and grabbed his first goal in last week’s 3-1 EFL Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Rondon then led the line in Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Manchester City but there were plenty of positives to take from the game, with Rafael Benitez’s side showing greater spirit than in their previous outings.

However, with just one point to their name heading into the international break, Newcastle already look in relegation danger.
With plenty of football to be played, the 28-year-old says it is too early to panic and has called for unity within the squad.

He told the club’s website: “We have to keep going – that is the only way to change the situation. The confidence is the most important thing in this sport.
“We just have to start not conceding goals, and continue our positive performances, our positive things, and keep looking forward.”
