Tottenham defender Danny Rose has been forced to withdraw from the England squad after sustaining a ‘minor’ injury. Rose joined Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy in pulling out of the England squad for tonight’s Nations League clash with Croatia and will return to the club for treatment.
Thankfully England boss Gareth Southgate has confirmed the injury, thought to be to his groin, is nothing serious and by pulling out the risk of causing further damage has been reduced.
Spurs have already been rocked by the news that Jan Vertonghen has been ruled out until December with a hamstring injury and can ill afford anymore issues.
Elsewhere, Christian Eriksen (abdomen), Mousa Dembele (thigh), Dele Alli (hamstring) and Serge Aurier (thigh) have also been absent of late and the squad is being stretched to the maximum.
Three months after facing one another in the World Cup semi-finals, the Three Lions travel to Rijeka before heading onto an arguably even tougher assignment against Spain and boss Mauricio Pochettino will be praying Harry Kane and co return unscathed.
