England’s Justin Rose insists he will not get carried away despite taking the halfway lead at the Turkish Airlines Open. The European Ryder Cup star is looking to win back-to-back titles in Antalya and moved into a good position on Friday.
Rose posted his second successive 65 at Regnum Carya Golf Resort to get to 12-under and pull two clear of Tom Lewis, Danny Willett and Thorbjorn Olesen.
The 38-year-old will become the world number one with a victory this week but he insists the “chasing pack” are still too close for comfort. “I played catch-up here last year and other guys are capable of doing that this year,” Rose told Sky Sports.
“I think as I’ve shot two 65s, you can always have somebody from the chasing pack do the same thing. “For me it’s about keep moving forward this week. Even par is not really going to get it done, so you have to have the mentality of keep moving forward.”
