Former British number one Greg Rusedski believes Novak Djokovic can potentially win all four Grand Slam events in 2019. Djokovic has fired himself back up to number one in the rankings after a stunning second half of 2018.
He won his fourth Wimbledon title, beating Kevin Anderson in the final, after recovering from elbow surgery which meant he slipped down to 12th in the ATP rankings.
He also won the US Open for the third time after a straight sets win against Juan Martin del Potro in the final, and perhaps his greatest achievement came in the States as his Cincinnati Masters title meant he became the first player in his to win each ATP Masters 100 title event at least once.
And Rusedski claims this phenomenal streak of form can continue into 2019 and he can be highly regarded for all four majors. “I think it’s a fair statement to suggest Novak is favourite for all four Grand Slams next year,” Rusedski told us.
“The other players will be starting their pre-season programmes now and they need to do something special to get near Djokovic because he is playing tennis that none of them can touch.
“He has separated himself from the pack and while Rafael Nadal is the one who will feel he can stop him when he gets onto the clay courts at the French Open, it is hard to see Novak getting beaten if he continues to play as he has been in the second half of this season.”
