Danny Ings faces a late fitness test as Southampton look for their first Premier League win of the season at Crystal Palace. The injury-prone forward has picked up a nasty blister and, despite playing no part in Saints’ 1-0 EFL Cup victory over Brighton on Tuesday night, he may not make it for the trip to Selhurst Park.
The 26-year-old has missed so much game time over the past few years with Liverpool that it will be frustrating as he has one goal from three top-flight outings so far this term.
Charlie Austin netted the only goal of the game earlier this week and he may be in line to stand in for Ings should the ex-Burnley man not make it.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is available after serving a one-match suspension for his red card against Leicester last weekend and boss Mark Hughes has no new injury problems to deal with.
Southampton probable line-up: McCarthy, Soares, Vestergaard, Hoedt, Bertrand, Romeu, Lemina, Davis, Redmond, Long, Ings.
