Southampton’s Carabao Cup trip to Leicester has been postponed following Saturday’s fatal helicopter crash at the King Power Stadium. Saints had been due to take on the Foxes in the fifth round clash on Tuesday but the fixture has now been postponed, with a new date still to be confirmed.
Leicester chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha was among five people killed when his helicopter crashed outside the ground following a 1-1 draw with West Ham on Saturday.
A statement on Southampton’s official website read: “Both clubs, in conjunction with the relevant authorities, took the decision not to play the match in light of the helicopter crash outside King Power Stadium on Saturday.
“The thoughts of all of us at Southampton Football Club remain with our colleagues at Leicester, the Srivaddhanaprabha family and everyone affected by the tragic incident.
“Details of a rearranged date for the fourth-round game, as well as ticketing arrangements, are not available at this stage and will be released in due course.”
