Chelsea’s Maurizio Sarri has criticised the Premier League scheduling as his side has a quick turnaround after their efforts in Euorpe. The Italian tactician saw the Blues secure a 1-0 win on the road at PAOK Salonika in the Europa League on Thursday night but they were delayed due to flight problems on their way back to London from Greece.
With preparations not being the best, Chelsea went on to play out a goalless draw at the London Stadium against rivals West Ham on Sunday in the Premier League.
Sarri has admitted he was not impressed with the scheduling and wished his side would have been able to play their encounter against the Hammers as the Monday night game.
He said: “I do not know why in England you cannot play on Monday after an away match in the Europa League. In Italy it is normal.”
It’s a quick turnaround once again for Chelsea as they are back in action on Wednesday night when they face Premier League table-toppers Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.
