Saracens have announced they have signed Stormers and Western Province lock Chris van Zyl on a short-term deal. The Gallagher Premiership side confirmed the deal on their website, although the club did not say how long the 32-year-old would be at Allianz Park for.
The South African, who began his career with the Golden Lions before a move to the Stormers, bring with him plenty of experience with Sarries set to tap into his know-how as captain of the Super Rugby franchise and previously with WP.
In a short statement on the website, Saracens say Van Zyl “will provide cover in the second row during the autumn internationals whilst Maro Itoje and George Kruis are away with England”.
Saracens are currently second in the Gallagher Premiership and were held to a 15-15 draw by Sale on Friday in the Premiership Rugby Cup.
