Schalke have dismissed reports linking Matija Nastasic with a move to Italian side Roma, and say there has been no contact. Roma have been heavily with a move to take the former Fiorentina defender back to Serie A at some point in the future, but Schalke president Christian Heidel says that will not be happening.

Roma have already failed with one attempt to sign the 25-year-old last year, and according to Heidel there has been no further contact since then. “I haven’t had any contact with Monchi since the summer of 2017, when he made an offer that we didn’t accept,” Heidel said. “Nastasic has a contract with the club until 2022, and our intention is not to sell him.”
Reports in Italy claim that Roma could still try their luck in the January transfer window, but any kind of approach looks sure to be knocked back.
