Silva Eases City Worries

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has provided a positive injury update after suffering a groin issue on international duty. Silva started Portugal’s 1-1 friendly draw against World Cup semi-finalists Croatia on Thursday but he was forced off at half-time after complaining about a groin problem.

It was unclear how severe the 24-year-old’s injury was and defending Premier League champions City, who are unbeaten so far this season, faced a nervous wait to find out the extent of the issue.

But, all seems to be good on the injury front after Silva revealed his substitution was only precautionary.

He was quoted as saying by the Manchester Evening News: “I came off at half-time because I have been having a little discomfort in the groin area, and with Mr Fernando Santos we thought it was better not to risk the second half.”

City return to action on September 15 with a home clash against Fulham before Lyon then make the trip to the Etihad four days later for the opening Champions League clash.
