Leeds director of rugby Kevin Sinfield feels Richard Agar is the right man for the job as the new head of player and coach development. Having won the Super League Grand Final in 2017, Leeds have just come through a disappointing season, which saw head coach Brian McDermott lose his job at Headingley.
It’s all change at Leeds ahead of the 2019 season under Sinfield, with David Furner being confirmed as head coach, while former Wakefield boss Agar has now accepted a new role as head of player and coach development.
Having decided to leave NRL outfit St George Illawarra, Agar is heading back to Super League and Sinfield feels Leeds have done well to land a man of his experience.
He said: “Richard is an ideal candidate for this new position given his vast experience both in Super League and over in the NRL.
“Our player development programme is vital to our progress as a club and having a person of the calibre of Richard overseeing that is a major boost for the Rhinos.”
