Stones Sees Long-Term Future With City

Sources close to John Stones have stated the Manchester City central defender is ready to commit his peak years to the club. The England international still has over three years left on his deal at the Etihad but there is talk the Citizens now want to nail down his services in the longer term.

Stones enjoys a close working relationship with City boss Pep Guardiola, who believes the former Everton man can go on to become one of the best defenders in the world as he continues to mature under his guidance.

City were mocked in some quarters when they agreed to pay the Toffees £49m to acquire his services back in 2016, which they now believe to be a snip in the current transfer market.

The 24-year-old had an impressive World Cup and that has given his club more food for thought as they look to tie down their brightest young talents in the coming months.

Wingers Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane are the immediate priority but Stones will not be far behind them when it comes to sitting down with City.

Stones can expect a decent rise on his present £120,000-per-week wages but members of his circle insist the Barnsley-born man feels right at home at City and can see himself playing there into his thirties.
