Leicester striker Kelechi Iheanacho believes Nigeria can win silverware in the next few years if they continue to improve. Iheanacho is currently away with the Super Eagles as they attempt to secure a spot at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Victory over South Africa on Saturday would book their spot at the showpiece event in Cameroon next summer, having already won three of their four qualifying matches.
After an impressive run at the 2018 World Cup, Iheanacho feels Nigeria are moving in the right direction and believes it is only a matter of time until they start winning trophies.
“As you can see, we are getting better and better,” he told allnigeriasoccer.com. “We learnt a whole lot from the World Cup, and since then we are improving as a team and also individually.
“Most of us have new clubs, play more often in our club and above all getting better in terms of team cohesion when we play for the national team. “It’s only a matter of time before we start winning trophies.”
