Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri says he wants to secure Europa League knockout football quickly after their 3-1 win over BATE Borisov. The Blues secured a comfortable victory at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night, with England international Ruben Loftus-Cheek being the star of the show with a hat-trick.
Aleksei Rios could only manage a consolation goal for the Belarusian champions, as they found themselves out of their depth in west London.
Sarri was pleased with the overall result and feels it’s important Chelsea secure their place in the Europa League knockout stages quickly, as they have big games in the Premier League coming up.
“The target in the short period is to qualify and then to win the group. We played very well for 65 minutes and not very well in the last 20 minutes. It was a good match,” he told reporters.
“When we conceded the goal I didn’t like it very much. I don’t know why but I prefer the clean sheet.”
Chelsea are next in action on Sunday, as the Blues make the trip to Turf Moor to take on Burnley in the Premier League.
