Kenny Tete admits he has struggled with his recent lack of playing time at Lyon. The Dutchman joined Les Gones last summer from Ajax and made a decent start as Bruno Genesio chose to rotate him and fellow right-back, Rafael.
However, the signing of Leo Dubois from Nantes has created further competition for places and Tete seems to be the one missing out after Rafael’s proposed switch to Besiktas fell through.
The 22-year-old is currently away with the Netherlands national side and after playing 72 minutes in Thursday’s 2-1 win over Peru, admitted it was good for him to finally get some playing time after a tough spell.
“I feel good, it’s wonderful to be able to play,” said the Dutch international. “The former Ajax player chained his personal situation at Olympique Lyonnais. My situation in Lyon is complicated, he admitted.
“We do not communicate much there and that only makes things even more difficult. I hope to be able to progress today.
“I had a hard time. When I was at Ajax I always gave myself 100%. I cannot do more, right?”
