Jonathan Thomson shot the lowest round of his European Tour career to end day one of the Made In Denmark at the top of the leaderboard.
Thomson went round for 64, which would have been a course record had preferred lies not been in place, to finish on eight under.
Denmark’s Lucas Bjerregaard sits in a six-way tie for second on six under along with Josh Geary, Brett Rumford, Hunter Stewart, Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Matthew Baldwin.
Home hopeful Thorbjorn Olesen, who went round in a less than satisfactory 73, knows that a tie for seventh with one other or better will secure a place in Europe’s Ryder Cup team.
