Ospreys have announced Wales flanker Justin Tipuric will takeover from Alun Wyn Jones as their captain. Wales skipper Jones has chosen to stand down as captain of his club following eight seasons at the helm, skippering the Pro14 time 115 times during that period.
Tipuric, a British and Irish Lions, is no stranger to being captain having done the job on 27 occasions, in the absence of Jones.
And coach Allen Clarke is convinced he has made the right decision, insisting Tipuric has what it takes to do the job.
“An Osprey through and through, Justin is the right man for the job,” said Clarke.
“Alun Wyn is a proud Osprey who has led the team with great honour from the front since 2010.
“It’s important to remember he is still a major player and significant leader within our environment.
“Having discussed the position with him (Jones), it was clear he believed the time was right for the Ospreys to have a fresh voice as captain.”
