Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov says he could be tempted into investing in Everton after the sale of his Arsenal shares. Usmanov, who first became involved with the Gunners in 2007 when acquiring a 14.58-percent stake in the club, recently agreed to sell his 30 per cent stake in Arsenal to Stan Kroenke and the 64-year-old is now deliberating his next venture in football.
There are numerous reports claiming the Russian, whose company USM Holdings sponsors Everton’s training ground Finch Farm, is deliberating whether to pump some money into the Toffees.
Farhad Moshiri, a former business partner and still close friend of Usmanov’s, owns the Goodison Park-based outfit and the duo could be set to work together again.
When quizzed on the matter, Usmanov revealed he would be willing to discuss investment in the Merseysiders if the opportunity arises.
“Should there be a proposal or a possibility to invest in them with good potential returns, I would consider the deal,” he told Bloomberg. “We are friends with Farhad Moshiri. If he needs the support, I am happy to help.”
